The Powerful Lesson Ex-NFL Star Dez Bryant Taught Me...
It is up to you to break generational curses.
It is our duty as fathers to break generational curses. Almost all of us have them.
Some of us have serious traumas from childhood that impact us. Almost all of us have some form of subconscious programming that we might not even be aware of that we downloaded from our parents as young children.
Maybe you were yelled at regularly as a child and as a result, you tend to rely on this tactic when you feel like you’re not being heard (Yes, this is me).
It’s important to understand where these tendencies and habits come from so we can address them. But they should never be used as an excuse.
I want to share something powerful with you that I have since saved on my phone and revisited several times. I copied and pasted this into my “notes” on my phone and humbly suggest you do the same.
This recently came from former Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant:
“Break generational curses. Quit yelling at your kids before they go to bed and expect them to sleep well. Quit yelling at your kids in the morning right after they wake up before school and expect them to have a good day.
You set the tone for your children. You set the tone for your voice they will always remember in their heads. You become their inner voice. Don’t be their inner critic. Speak life, speak love, speak bravery, kindness and hope, speak wisdom and truth. Most of all, listen to your children.”
As dads, we SET THE TONE in our households. What kind of energy are we providing?
Join me in spending some time reflecting on that this morning.
God bless every single one of you,
